We only list complete boxes.
WhatchaMakin gathers the craft kits whose box genuinely lets you finish the object — and says plainly when it doesn't.
The problem we're trying to fix
Wanting to take up a craft is easy. Knowing which box to buy is not. “This kit contains everything you need” appears on nearly every product page — and on half of them it is false.
The hook is missing, or the stuffing, or the eyes. You find out opening the parcel on a Saturday evening, once the shops have closed.
Retailers don't answer that question: they sell the box. For us it is the whole job.
What we commit to
- Only list complete boxes — Yarn, hook, stuffing, eyes: if one is missing, the kit doesn't enter the catalogue.
- Copy the contents the seller states — never fill in the gaps from memory. When they don't say, we write that they don't say.
- Show the recorded price and its date — A price six months old is no longer information.
- Send you to the cheapest retailer — delivery included — even when it pays us three times less.
Where we are
62 crafts are listed, but only one is published: crochet. We open one only once we have found enough genuinely complete kits for it to stand up — and that is rarer than it sounds. A half-filled page helps nobody.
How we make money
Through affiliate commissions, set out in full on the disclosure page. It changes neither the price you pay nor what we recommend — and when two retailers sell the same kit, we send you to the cheaper one, including when it pays us least. disclosure.
